Mmm live silk worms in the market. I hear (from every one, every time they are mentioned) that one has as much protein as three eggs. Yet, everything about them just turns me off....

Forget East versus West; I may have found the quintessential cultural mismatch. From feelgood flatland to fast pushy developing Chinese cities, these are musings of a young, Midwest gal in China.
Damn, do they sell this for food?
ReplyDeleteHow are they eaten? baked, fried, alive...? I'd like to try them actually. Given how we treat our animals now, I believe eating bugs will be healthier for people and more sustainable for the environment.
ReplyDeleteGeezus! They'd have to pretty much cure cancer before I'd be persuaded to eat those things.
ReplyDeleteNot a clinical analysis has proved that they can cure any decease so far. Believe or not, lots of Chinese people like eating them for a simple reason, they are just very very delicious~~~ People in China actually fried they with some ingredients, which is easy to everybody. You will love the taste if you dare to try it. : )
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean that there will be a scarcity of sillk fabric because we are going to eat all the worms? If so, I might just consider a Silkworm Rescue.
